Gospel Reflection Week 5 Term 4

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog and today I will be telling you about my gospel reflection. This week the gospel is about the future and how you shouldn't know what it will bring otherwise you might be waiting for it all your life and you won't be able to enjoy your life. We had choices about what we could do for our create.

Here it is:

Angles Week 5 Term 4

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog and today I will be telling you about angles and showing you my slide about angles. This week for maths the teachers told us that we are going to  be learning about angles. The angles that I know are called acute angles, right angles, obtuse angles, complete angles and reflex angles. We had to make a poster or a slide explaining our knowledge on angles. Do you know your angles?

Here is mine:

RE Gospel T4 W4

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog today I will tell you about the gospel and my create for the gospel. This week the gospel it's about a poor widow putting just a few pennies in the donation box and other people putting in a lot of money. Then Jesus said " the women put in more than all the others everyone else gave what they didn't need but she is very poor and put in all she had so now she don't have a cent to live on". So the gospel is about giving from the heart not the pocket. We all had a choice of what we could do an I chose to do a animation with Ainsley showing what the gospel is.

I chose to try make a invention that solves ocean pollution. Its called "The Whirl Pool 2000" I really like my invention because when you go to the beach you don't want to see rubbish washing up onto the shore.

Here it is:

Have you ever thought of a great invention? If you have what was it?

Numbers and Fractions

Kia ora welcome back to my blog today I will share with you my Numbers and fractions pick a path. A pick a path is where you have to make questions and then link answers onto them either leading to a slide with you are wrong or you are right and you have to link it onto the next question.

Here it is:

How many did you get right?

Explanation Writing

Kia ora welcome back to my blog and today I will show you my explanation writing. Explanation writing is where you explain something I explained how to be a good friend.

Here it is:

Being a Good Friend

Are you worrying about how good a friend you are?

Hi, I'm Ava and today I will tell you about how to be a good friend.

First of all you need to be kind and caring.

The first way to be kind is to listen and show

interest even if they are talking about something really boring.

Trust me it works!

The next way to be kind is to think about others

feelings before making decisions like if you want

to play tag everyone says yes but one person

doesn't then they would be alone and that would

be very lonely.

Second, you need to be helpful because then they

would probably think you didn’t really like to help them.

If you want to help them then you could help them

with their schoolwork if they are stuck or confused.

You could also take them to the office or a teacher if they get hurt.

Friends are great for your feelings so the next thing

I will tell you about is how you could help them

\with their feelings. If one of their loved ones dies

and if they don’t want to talk you could just sit

with them and comfort them, if they do want to talk

about it you could just say things to comfort them.

Overall I think the most important thing is to be

kind and caring.

That is how I think you can be a good friend.

Persasive Writing T3 Wk 6

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog today I will show you why I think that schooling should not be online. I did this writing in lockdown because I really wanted to get out of lockdown.

Here it is

Should all Schooling be Online

Are you sick of getting up early in the morning just to go onto a google meet?

Hi, I'm Ava and I am here to tell you why schooling should not be online.

Schooling should be in person because then you would be able to make new friends and because you can’t talk during online classes. You also can’t talk or play with your friends online. Online messaging can also go very wrong and you can become not friends because you can’t read their facial expressions so you don’t know if they are saying it as a good thing or a bad thing.

Another reason that schools shouldn’t be online. Some people don’t have chromebooks because their parents can’t afford them so if there is more than one child they will have to share and that would be very hard unless they are always in the same workshops. The child would also miss some workshops.

It would also be very stressful for the parents because they might have lots of google meets. It would also be very hard to keep an eye on your children as well as focusing on your work. If your google meet was at the same time as lunchtime your child might get hungry and cranky and come in the middle of your meeting asking for food. Your child might also not charge their chromebook and then not do schoolwork that whole day.

There can also have medical problems. This could also cause horrible neck pains by looking down to see your screen to know what you are doing. Too much screen time might affect your eyesight. If you have to stay up late finishing your work then you would not be able to go to sleep because your brain will think it's daytime because of the blue light from your chromebook.

This is why I think schooling should not be online.

Do you agree with me?

Persuasive Writing T3 wk 7

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog today I will tell you about my persuasive writing. This week I did it about everyone should have to exercise everyday.

Here it is

Everyone Should Have to Exercise Everyday

Do you want to stay fit and healthy?

Yes of course you do!

Hi, I'm Ava and I'm here to tell you why everyone should exercise everyday.

Everyone should have to exercise everyday because

if you don’t you might gain lots of weight and that could be bad for your health.

If you are overweight and you are 30 or over you are more likely to have heart disease,

strokes, diabetes, cancer and depression. If you start exercising regularly

when you are a child then you keep on doing this habit when you are older

these things are less likely to affect you.

Exercise can raise your dopamine and

serotonin levels which can improve your mood.

If you don’t exercise then you could get overweight and this could

lead to bullying which can hurt people mentally, in addition to that

exercise can be very helpful for people who deal with anxiety and panic attacks.

Getting regular exercise is important for good physical and mental health.

Exercise can help stimulate parts of your brain that aren’t as responsive when

you’re feeling depressed. It also promotes the release of feel-good brain chemicals.

It may also help distract you from your worries and improve your confidence,

according to Healthline.

If you're not the type of person who likes going to the gym or going on a run

you can do sports like dancing.

There are lots of different kinds of dance so you can pick which one suits you the best.

There are also lots of team sports like rugby, football and netball.

If you have sore joints or injuries you could also do swimming or aqua jogging.

You can also make friends outside of work and school by joining a sports club or

dance school or attending a group gym session.

So have a think of doing some exercise today. It could not only help you physically,

it could help you mentally and socially too.

Do you agree with me?

My Happy Happy Happy Book

Kia ora welcome back to my blog today I will tell you about what I have been doing for reading. This week for reading we have to make a book about gratitude or the happy brain chemicals I chose the gratitude because if you do the gratitude one it can be fiction ( not real ). I wrote my book based on Happy Right Now by Julie Berry. We have to show this to the youngest hub called Kakano and the teachers warned us that they will say what they think about it.

Here it is

What do you think of my book?

Umbrella

Kia ora welcome back to my blog today I will tell you about the story I wrote based on a small clip named umbrella. Umbrella is a Oscar winning short film about empathy. Empathy is about feeling sorry for others and putting yourself into others shoes. I only wrote a little bit of it and you will have to watch the video to see all of it ( warning it is sad!)  Just search up umbrella award winning.

Umbrella

Early one dreary morning, as the rain was bucketing down. The door to Miss Elem’s Home For

Children opened wide. The girl with the sunflower yellow umbrella cautiously entered the

orphanage before finding a home for her umbrella. Not wanting to be seen, Boris quickly whipped

his head around the door frame so that he was hidden from view. Standing off to the side the

young girl watched the joyful scene while the children dug in the box for hidden treasures.

The girl had a smile brighten up her face as she watched the young girl cradled the doll like her

own child. Her smile vanished immediately as she looked back at the umbrella stand and all

she saw was drops of small puddles. Her beloved umbrella had disappeared into thin air!

What is your favourite bit of the story?

Tumu Birthday Months

Kia ora, for maths this week we are doing another statistical investigation but this time we are doing it on the birthday months in Tumu Hub. First we had to collect the information on a google sheet then we had to make a graph with the data on it. The task was to make two of the graphs with the same information on it. (different graphs with the same information on it.)  Then we had to take a screenshot of the graph and put it on a google drawing and write down two statements for each graph. My statements were In December all the teams have 2 people born in December. Korokio is the only team with a birthday in July. April is a very common birthday in Tumu Hub. October is the next most common birthday in Tumu Hub.

Here is the google drawing:

Town Trip Recount

On the 20th of May we went into the town to learn about the town and we went to five different stations: the Waka, Margaret Mahy playground, Victoria Square, Tuna and traditional Maori mats. The first thing we did was look at three mats with Māori patterns. These patterns have a meaning not just for decoration.

I fed the cat food eels last because I was in the last group to feed them because they weren't that hungry so I went last with all the other people who didn’t get to do it. Next was the Waka it was very tiring because we had to row the boat ourselves. In Victoria Square we were allowed to go around and look at all the things in Victoria Square. We looked at the Queen Victoria statue and the James Cook statue. Last we did was Margaret Mahy playground. First we did a scavenger hunt then we went around in a group and found them all last we did some rubbing with crayons. I did some bird footprints with blue and purple.

My favourite part of the trip was Margaret Mahy Playground because we did a scavenger hunt first and then we looked at the path with a Māori chant on it.

Something I learnt was that Margaret Mahy playground used to be an indoor pool.

The thing I found the most interesting was that people used to be transported by Waka to the riverside Market.

This trip has helped me with my PBL because it has told me a lot about the town and we are going to use the information for our create for PBL.

Have you been to Margaret Mahy playground?

Bully Free Week

Kia ora, today I will tell you about what I did for bullying free week. For bullying free week we had a choice of what we were going to do for our create task, either we could make a hand and on each finger write something we do if we see someone bullying someone else or make a poster with quotes to stop bullying. I made the poster with the quote "it isn't big to make others feel small". You shouldn't bully because something like that can stick with people forever and really hurt them. This is the poster I made↓

Did you do anything for bullying free week? Have you heard of bullying free week?

For the words we learnt are tūrangawaewae which means your standing place your standing place means your house or your country. Another word we learnt is whakapapa that means your family tree or your family relationship. Another one we learnt is tāonga what means something treasured to you. We also learnt these 2 awa and maunga, awa means river and maunga means mountain.

Nō hea koe? Ko wai tō ingoa?
